Scalable Informatics JackRabbit™ systems are cost effective, highly reliable, tightly coupled high performance multiprocessor storage servers. The 5U version of these systems have demonstrated more than 5400 MB/s in sustained large block reads and more than 4600 MB/s in sustained large block writes to RAID6 disk for a single thread reading from and writing to a single 1TB sized file on a single file system. With multi-port Gigabit Ethernet, and optional InfiniBand and 10/40GbE capability, the Scalable Informatics JackRabbit can serve significantly more data per unit time to end users than traditional NAS/SAN systems at a fraction of their costs. Moreover, you can run your applications directly upon Scalable Informatics JackRabbit, leveraging the tight coupling between processing and I/O. Customers have experienced significant application acceleration running on the hardware accelerated JackRabbit system as compared to other non-accelerated solutions.
Scalable Informatics JackRabbit systems are available in deskside and rackmount configurations, starting at 8 TB (TeraByte) in size, with individual systems ranging from 8TB to 144TB, and storage clusters up to 62 PB (PetaByte), with most systems starting price under $1USD/GB.
Scalable Informatics JackRabbit 4U unit feature hardware accelerated RAID; performance has been measured in excess of 2200+ MB/s on RAID6 volumes, and 5300+ IOPs, with 8kB random reads with SATA drives. End users have measured significant performance increases over competitive systems on financial database and processing, data serving, video-on-demand (VOD)/IPTV, and similar data intensive operations. Leveraging Virident tachIOn modules, our IOP performance increases by multiple orders of magnitude; we have measured a sustained 200k IOP for 4k random writes using Virident tachIOn as a cache layer in our JackRabbit systems.
A recent JackRabbit customer in the CGI/Animation market has this to say:
"The feature film business has intense data demands and tight financial margins. We went with Scalable Informatics for our servers because they demonstrated that they have the expertise to deliver fast, scalable, high-capacity servers — and tune them for our specific needs — at a great price." – Head of Technology, Yowza Digital
JackRabbit connects to your network with multiple Gigabit ports, with optional 10 GbE and Infiniband ports. JackRabbit provides fast iSCSI (over all transports), as well standard NFS, CIFS/SMB, GlusterFS,, Lustre and other cluster file systems (PVFS2/OrangeFS, GFS, OCFS2). IPMI 2.0 with KVM over IP is integrated to enable lights-out management. We sustain 1 GB/s NFS over a single 10 GbE connections, between a single server and a single client unit, reading and writing with a single thread to a single file.
Scalable Informatics JackRabbit is available as an appliance system with integrated management for NAS/SAN/iSCSI applications, as well as a server system for tightly coupled high performance storage and processing. JackRabbit runs Linux, Windows 200x server, and other operating systems such as Nexenta. JackRabbit systems make particularly good virtualization platforms due to the tight coupling of I/O with the many processing cores and large memory capability of the system. JackRabbit has demonstrated tremendous streaming bandwidth for Video-on-demand and media service applications in tests run for several large customers.
JackRabbit systems are in use globally on 4 continents, across multiple industries and research groups. Including financial services, CGI/Animation, media service, seismic processing, as well as cluster storage for users performing engineering simulation, chemistry, physics, and biological research. JackRabbit systems are in use anywhere there is a need for a cost effective, highly reliable, and high performance platform for storing, and processing large amounts of data quickly.
JackRabbit offers significant performance and reliability at a reasonable cost. Please contact us to speak about your needs.
